Although almost every day at Six Apart is Take Your Dog to Work Day, Friday was extra special because it was the official Take Your Dog to Work Day! Plus, as lovers of blogs and animals, we think it's great that active blogger and Human Society's President and CEO, Wayne Pacelle, thinks having dogs around the office is a good reminder of "who we're working for."
We realize some people have it ruff and aren't lucky enough to be able to bring their dog to work, but hopefully these pictures taken at Six Apart last Friday will get your tails wagging... And let me tell you, it's harder than it looks to get all the doggies and their fetching owners in one picture.
For those of us in the northern hemisphere, today is the summer solstice. For ancient civilizations, this day was akin to our modern day New Year's Eve and was viewed as a time to reflect and renew. So why not kick off your summer celebration with a new theme?
See all of our themes in the Design Area.
Or choose from one of these brand-new themes. (Available under "New.")
Well, I haven't posted about Pullips in a while, so here's a recap of my current dollies and their personalities:
She is Kitty White's roommate. They live in Azabu-Juuban, Tokyo, Japan.
(Miss Kitty White has also appeared in the Chatbox. However, she still knows nothing about what Cardea does outside of the bookstore. Her wiki page is here.)
Why did I post this? Because I need to figure out how Horizon fits in, and I think I may get another doll -- for charity, for charity! She's a gorgeous custom by Requiem named Flower Childe. (Check out the rest of the pictures!) She's a 60's flower girl -- I've already figured out how she'd fit in. If I can get lucky enough to win the auction, she would be about 26 years old, and Carbine's stepmom. She'd be really nice, a little bit ditzy, and totally crazy about kids so she doesn't notice that Carbine's a brat. Oh, and she dreams of being a Bond girl! She loves the 60s and thinks she was born in the wrong era. She absolutely loves the earth, thinks global warming is despicable, and lives as green a life as possible.
Yeah, I really shouldn't get my hopes up about winning her, but at least I'll feel better about my maximum bid being high -- the proceeds are going to charity, and one I very much approve of. Foster Parrots is a bird rescue, adoption, and sanctuary facility. I really can't sum up how much they do in a few sentences -- I suggest reading their mission statement page to understand what they do and why they do it. Parrots are highly intelligent animals and are often treated like feathered hamsters. If you ever want to buy a pet bird, please make sure you know what you're getting into!!
Wish me luck on the Flower Childe auction -- I may be going up against some tough competition. ;) If I don't win, though, I think I'll still make a donation to Foster Parrots. They're an amazing group.
Step 1: put your music player on random
Step 2: post the first line (or so. some are hard) from the first 10
(or 20 or 42 or whatever) songs that play, no matter how embarrassing
the song.
Step 3: post and let everyone you know guess what song and artist the lines come from.
Step 4: bold the songs someone has guessed (no lyric hunting! That is cheating!)
1. Are you aware of what you make me feel, baby
2. Sometimes I have dreams, I picture myself flying
3. Oh yeah I'll tell you something I think you'll understand
4. I sit in a yellow cubicle and I type in an orange screen
5. I'm standing on the bridge Avril Lavigne - I'm With You
6. So Jacob came to Egypt
7. Kids listen to the rap music
8. I man am regal, a German am I - Weird Al - Bob
9. She used to be my enemy and never let me be free
10. Dearest darlingest Momsie and Popsicle: Wicked - What Is This Feeling?
Instructions lovingly ripped off from my WST. <3 Good luck, eh? If you don't have a Vox account and don't want one, email or IM me: babelglyph AT gmail DOT com oooooor Babelglyph on AIM or even babelglyph@hotmail.com on MSN! (Babelglyph works on Yahoo too!)
Oh the glory of standards!
A couple of months ago, we told you about Blog It powered by TypePad, the first cross-platform blogging application for Facebook the enables you to post to your Vox blog - and ALL your blogs - with a single click.
Within a week, Blog It had nearly 4,000 active users posting tweets and creating blog posts, as well as updating their status messages with the title and link to the published post. Today, Blog It's Facebook application has nearly 10,000 users. But here's the thing: You're not always sitting in front of the computer when the inspiration to blog strikes. And at Six Apart, it is our goal to provide you the tools you need need to blog where you want, and when you want.
Which is why this week we introduced Blog It for iPhone, a free web application just like the one we introduced for Facebook - only now - on your iPhone. Built specifically for iPhone's Safari browser, Blog It for iPhone enables you to post blog entries or status updates from wherever you are to more than a dozen different online services. And just like the original Facebook version, you can choose to share your posts with the people you know across various social networks.
To start blogging with Blog It for iPhone, go to http://blogit.typepad.com with your iPhone's Safari browser and install the Blog It icon onto your mobile desktop. Then, all you have to do is click the Blog It icon and start creating posts!
Whether you're riding the bus to work, cheering on your team courtside, or enjoying a picnic by the lake, now it's easier than ever to Blog It.
IN WHICH I babble on for thirteen minutes. It's mildly entertaining, I suppose, and there IS a special thing that can be seen only in the video... ;D
If this is your first time at my blog you might want to take a look around and get acquainted. I have another video post (you can find it by clicking the "talkbits" tag!)
Take a good look at my hair when I turn my head -- you might be able to see flashes of purple. I've dyed my hair (I had chunky streaks of blonde put in a few weeks ago and so they picked up the purple best) and I'm really having fun with it. Hopefully I'll have better pictures soon but uh...I lost my camera again. =D;;Is it sad when I have a tag just for that?
Hope you enjoy this even though it's long. ^_^
(I accidentally mispronounce a few things. Mostly it's minor (like Azumanga Daioh) but I also say "animes" and for that I ask your forgiveness. ;_; )

The Purple Ribbon Project is an international project with the long-term goal of bringing an end to all interpersonal violence. While none of us can hope to stop interpersonal violence on our own, the Purple Ribbon Project encourages us to change our own behavior by being a responsible role model, setting an example, and promoting violence awareness and respect.
The Purple Ribbon Project believes in order to stop the violence, we must first see to it that every man, woman, and child is aware of the problem. We must ask them to consciously stop tolerating, enabling, or engaging in this self-destructive epidemic among humans. Stopping violence is everyone’s responsibility.
What can you do to participate in this effort? First, you can answer today's QotD, "What could we do to create a world with less violence?" or respond to today's Vox Hunt and "Show us something purple." You can also wear a purple ribbon or tie one to your car or find ways to be a positive role model.
Learn more about how to get involved with the Purple Ribbon Project and let us know about your efforts to make the world a more peaceful place in the comments.
